Learn a little more about Sarah Schopp, Krafty Kids’ Founder and Lead Instructor
Exposing children to art at a young age is integral. This is something that Sarah Schopp has known her whole life. Growing up in a household with a writer for a father exposed her to the creative process at a young age, and helped her feel the positive impact the arts can have on a young life.
Sarah went on to study Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy and got a Masters degree in Disability Studies. Her work in ABA therapy has given her a unique understanding of kids and their verbal and non-verbal cues.
Krafty Kids started when Sarah began crafting with her own kids. Getting them involved in the arts spoke to her in a profound way, and she relished in every minute! Word soon got out, and the neighbourhood parents were turning to her for advice on how best to be creative with their kids.
What Sarah found was that most parents want to craft with their kids, but find the planning and clean-up daunting, and are more likely to avoid it as a means of avoiding the stress altogether. It was here that Krafty Kids was born.
Now, Sarah offers classes for children ages 12 months to adults, plans and undertakes birthday parties, hosts Ladies Nights, private classes, and so much more. She’s taken what started as an arts and crafts room in her basement with her kids and opened it up to a community.
The new in home studio includes a wall to wall built in easel, open shelving for children to access materials on their own, a very large custom sink for lots of messy art projects, heated floors to keep feet warm and comfortable and endless storage for so many incredible materials that will be used throughout the session.
